I have been told that there are some staff employed by Angus Council that are on zero hours contracts so I have been in touch with the chief executive to find out if this is the case. While I can appreciate that some people such as students might like these contracts, I can only imagine how difficult these contracts are for some staff such as those with families particularly if this is the major source of their income.
I have also asked if the council have staff on these contracts
(a) which jobs does this apply to ?
(b) why do we have staff on these contracts ?
(c) what happens if these staff are not needed for work? Does the welfare state give them help?
(d) what are the conditions of employment for these staff with regard to illness, holiday entitlement etc.
